Time Warping Under Dynamic Constraints

چکیده
Action and event recognition from video require comparing temporal sequences of images, or of intermediate representations derived from them. Such a comparison should be insensitive to intrinsic temporal variations within the same class – for instance the speed of execution of a particular gesture – and at the same time retain discriminative power to enable classifying different actions. In this paper, we propose a technique to compare temporal sequences that accounts for dynamic constraints implicit in the data generation process. Our technique is more flexible than those previously used for quasi-periodic actions such as walking gaits, but more discriminative than others based on dynamic time warping that do not satisfy dynamic constraints. We illustrate our approach on public datasets including stationary and non-stationary actions, using both motion-capture and image data.

Robot Arm Performing Writing through Speech Recognition Using Dynamic Time Warping Algorithm
This paper aims to develop a writing robot by recognizing the speech signal from the user. The robot arm constructed mainly for the disabled people who can’t perform writing on their own. Here, dynamic time warping (DTW) algorithm is used to recognize the speech signal from the user. The action performed by the robot arm in the environment is done by reducing the redundancy which frequently fac...
متن کاملConsiderations in Dynamic Time Warping Algorithms for Discrete Word Recognition
The technique of dynamic time warping for time registration of a reference and test utterance has found widespread use in the areas of speaker verification and discrete word recognition. As originally proposed, the algorithm placed strong constraints on the possible set of dynamic paths—namely it was assumed that the initial and final frames of both the test and reference utterances were in exa...

This paper presents a fault location technique for transmission lines with minimum current measurement. This algorithm investigates proper current ratios for fault location problem based on thevenin theory in faulty power networks and calculation of short circuit currents in each branch. These current ratios are extracted regarding lowest sensitivity on thevenin impedance variations of the netw...
متن کاملComputing and Visualizing Dynamic Time Warping Alignments in R: The dtw Package
This introduction to the R package dtw is a (slightly) modified version of Giorgino (2009), published in the Journal of Statistical Software. Dynamic time warping is a popular technique for comparing time series, providing both a distance measure that is insensitive to local compression and stretches and the warping which optimally deforms one of the two input series onto the other. A variety o...
متن کاملPerformance Tradeoffs in Dynamic Time Warping Algorithms for Isolated Word Recognition
The technique of dynamic programming for the time registration of a reference and a test pattern has found widespread use in the area of isolated word recognition. Recently, a number of variations on the basic time warping algorithm have been proposed by Sakoe and Chiba, and Rabiner, Rosenberg, and Levinson. These algorithms all assume that the test input is the time pattern of a feature vector...
